Education Programme
Schools Programme Mission Statement
"To facilitate the increased respect and pride for South
Africa’s indigenous fauna especially in the youth of
disadvantaged communities; using the cheetah (Acinonyx
jubatus) as an ambassador species and to plant the seed
of a conservation ethic."
Cheetah Outreach Trust’s education programme is a
community-based, curriculum-linked series of
interactive presentations offered at Cheetah
Outreach. These presentations provide South African
children from all backgrounds with the opportunity to
learn about and to be inspired by their natural wildlife
heritage.
The school programme has evolved to serve learners
from the Foundation and Intermediate phases. It
supplies curriculum-linked resources which address
the subjects of Language, Natural Science and Life
Skills. These resources are available in English,
Afrikaans and Xhosa. The learning resources enable
learning outcomes to be addressed through
interesting and applied examples based on cheetahs
and other African wildlife.
