Cheetah Outreach celebrated the birth of 10 Anatolian puppies on 26 May. Mercedes, our most successful breeding female, gave birth to her second litter of 5 males and 5 females. Both mother and puppies are doing well, and unlike her first litter of 14 that had to be hand-fed the first week, this time Mercedes is able to nurse all the puppies herself. When the puppies are between 6 and 8 weeks of age, they will be placed on South African farms to bond with livestock and grow up to guard their herd or flock from cheetahs and other predators.
Well done Mercedes! |
