On 14 August, Mercedes, one of our Anatolian shepherd breeding females, gave birth to 14 puppies, 10 males and 4 females. This was her first litter. Both mother and puppies are doing well, but due to the large litter, the puppies are being supplement fed with a bottle on a regular basis. When the puppies are between 6 and 8 weeks of age, they will be placed on South African farms to bond with livestock and grow up to guard them from cheetahs and other predators.
Well done Mercedes! |
