Animal Enrichment at Cheetah Outreach
At Cheetah Outreach, enrichment is as important to our animals’ welfare as nutrition and veterinary care. We use
environmental and behavioural enrichment to enhance their physical, social, cognitive and psychological well-
being. One of the most important roles of enrichment is increasing behavioural choices and encouraging species-
typical behaviour. Enrichment gives our animals opportunity to exercise some control or choice over their
environment. Our enrichment programme provides physically and mentally stimulating activities that fall into
many categories, including habitat, food, sensory, cognitive, toys, social interaction and behavioural conditioning.
