Runs
Runs are seasonal (approximately November through April). They are normally held on a Tuesday or Friday but can be requested for different days if handlers are available. Runs normally start at 08h30.
Cheetahs are run in our large enclosure on a lure system, the same that is used for greyhound racing. Please note that though we use our best runners for public viewing, the success of the run depends on the cats on the day. |
 |
Public Runs
Public runs cost R70 per person or R150 per person if an encounter is included after the run. Viewing is from a platform outside the running enclosure, which is high enough to give you an unobstructed view. A Cheetah Outreach volunteer will be with you during the run to answer any questions. |
 |
Private Runs
Private runs can be booked in advance with a maximum of 6 guests. Cost is R2750 per group. Small children are not allowed. Viewing is from inside the running enclosure on top of a mound with mostly unobstructed views. A Cheetah Outreach volunteer will be with you during the run to answer any questions.
Complimentary encounter with an adult cheetah during encounter hours is included. |

Cub Walks
Cub walks are seasonal (November through March).
They are normally held on a Tuesday or Friday but can be requested for different days if handlers are available. Cub walks normally start at 08h30 and cost R650 per person. A maximum of 4 people per cub walk.
You will have the opportunity to walk along and take photos while the handlers take the cubs for a walk around the Spier Wine Estate. Handlers will at all times have control of the leashes and no guests will be allowed to walk a cub themselves due to safety protocol. When and if the cubs settle, and at the discretion of the handlers, you may have the opportunity to meet the cubs while on the walk. On return to the facility, you will have an encounter with the cubs in their enclosure.
Booking is essential for cub walks. |

Private Functions
A private meeting with a cheetah is available on request and must be booked in advance. This type of encounter is tailored for groups. With groups of 60 to 70 people, all guests will have an opportunity to stroke the cat and take photos. For groups over 100, there is a presentation only, with the VIP members of the group having the opportunity to stroke the cat and take photos.
Functions last approximately 30 to 40 minutes, depending on the size of the group and behaviour of the group and cat. Cost is R3500 for a day or night function on Spier or at Cheetah Outreach and R4000 for split functions, where a big group is split into 2 separate functions with 2 different cheetahs.
Off-site functions are available on request and subject to site inspection. Cost is R5500. |
